Collaborative tools

Any software where more than one person can work together on the same items is collaborative tools. These tools come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but they all have the same purpose: to encourage people to engage with one another.

Most BPM software, and project management software is collaborative tools.

How collaborative tools help

Collaborative tools make it easier for teams to interact, organize projects and tasks, and exchange and store information. Specific tools may specialize in one of the three areas mentioned. Not all online collaboration solutions have the same range of features. Most common features -

  • Invite people to work on a document or on a set of documents.
  • User activity log helps to understand who did what work.
  • Users can comment or chat inside the software/platform/tool.

Online meetings, team chat, projects, tasks, workflow management, file storage, and collaborative content creation are just a few of the use cases where collaborative tools are used.

Trello, Airtable, GoodFlow, Asana, Basecamp, Zoom, and Monday are some examples of collaboration tools.
